“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

Matthew 4:19 NIV

Follow Me

Immigrants to Canada can bring family members with them if they were processed for permanent residence as dependents. This includes a spouse or common-law partner, any dependent child, a spouse or common-law partner’s dependent child and a dependent child of a dependent child. The family members that can’t come with an approved immigrant include parents, grandparents, a brother or sister, an uncle or aunt, a nephew or niece or other relatives. Dependents can’t arrive in Canada before the approved immigrant – they must arrive with or after that person.

We live in a world where we are encouraged to follow – the latest trend, the right social media influencer, the most popular politician. Every commercial tries to convince us we are missing something and we need what they are offering. While it all sounds so enticing, nothing this world offers has eternal value. What a contrast to the call of Jesus to follow Him. In Matthew 4:19 we read “‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’” Jesus has a plan for your life, just as he did have for the first disciples. He called them first to follow Him. His plan for our lives is always based first and foremost on a relationship with Jesus. The Lord called them to follow – the fishing for people would come later. Jesus still calls people to Himself. And when we follow Him, everything else falls into place. His plan for you is designed for you. It will have eternal impact and eternal significance. He calls you first to Himself, in faith. He still says “follow me.” Everything begins right there. Put your trust in Him and follow.

These have been words from the heart.
