Words from the Heart for Thursday October 11th, 2018
Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord.
Jeremiah 23:24 (NKJV)
Can Anyone Hide
If we are honest, we know the answer to this question the Lord asked Jeremiah! There is no place that we can hide from God. People who are choosing disobedience can deceive themselves into thinking they are not accountable to God. They may hide their actions and motives from other people. But, the Lord, the amazing Creator, sees into every possible “secret place.” Pray for someone today who is trying to hide from God.
If you ask the locals in Quadeville, Ontario, a hamlet about 150 km southwest of Ottawa, they will tell you that a cabin in their little mining and lumber town was the late-in-life hideout of the notorious gangster Al Capone. The cabin in question was built in 1942 by a local man who was hired by a mysterious figure from south of the border. Capone is supposed to have been here sometime between 1943 and 1947, years after his release from jail.
Children know that moms know all things. They have eyes in the back of their heads and ears that can listen through walls. It has been said that you can’t fool mother nature, but it is actually true that you can’t fool any mother. Well, this isn’t true of course. Moms are human beings, and can only be in one place at a time. The Bible tells us there is someone who knows all things. Jeremiah 23:24 asks, ““Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord.” There is no place we can hide from the Lord God who created us. Fortunately, He loves us deeply, and in spite of being all-seeing and all-knowing, in spite of knowing our strengths and weaknesses, our sins and our shortcomings, His desire to redeem us and forgive us drives Him to reach out to us through Jesus Christ. If you have fallen into sin, don’t run from God. There is no place you can hide from Him. Turn in faith, seeking His forgiveness and redemption, and He will do so.
These have been words from the heart.
