Words from the Heart for Thursday November 7th, 2019
Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
John 19:11 (NKJV)
The Canada Border Services Agency has the authority to maintain border protection and surveillance, immigration enforcement and customs services in Canada. Since the September 11 attacks against the United States, Canada’s border operations have placed an enhanced emphasis on national security and public safety. The Canada–United States Smart Border Declaration, created by John Manley and Tom Ridge, then first U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security of the Department of Homeland Security, has provided objectives for co-operation between Canadian and American border operations.
The powerful people of the world like to flaunt their power. Certainly the religious leaders in Jesus’ day, along with the Roman authorities. This was seen so clearly as Jesus stood resolutely before the Roman ruler Pontius Pilate. Jesus stood before Pilate and didn’t say a word. In Jesus’ silence, Pilate began to sense something unique about this man. He reminds Jesus that he has the power to release Jesus or have Him crucified. In John 19:11 we read Jesus’ response: “Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.” There is an authority from heaven that is so far greater than any human authority. I have spoken to Christians who have been persecuted for their faith and they testify to an overwhelming sense of God’s power and authority as they have stood before accusers. You are the son or daughter of the living God. When you speak up for Him, you do so with the authority of heaven. Whatever you find facing you today, speak up with the authority that is yours in Christ.
These have been words from the heart.
