Words from the Heart for Thursday November 26th, 2020
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Ephesians 4:16 (NIV)
Builds Itself Up
Soaring lumber and wood panel prices are adding thousands of dollars to the cost of building a home in Canada, as strong renovation and new housing demand outstrip supply. The rise in demand comes from increased interest in renovations by people working from home during the pandemic, along with a strong housing market in Canada and the U.S., and continued low interest rates. Supply, meanwhile, has fallen as several mills in British Columbia were closed over the past year.
We were watching two brothers playing together the other day. The older is four and can hit a golf ball straight down the fairway 150 yards. His younger brother trips every time he tries to kick a soccer ball. For every child, it takes a while before their limbs all start to work in conjunction with each other. Until then, they seem to be just a jumble of arms and legs, tendons and ligaments. When they finally get it all together, there is nothing they can’t accomplish. This is exactly the picture the Bible paints of the Body of Christ. Ephesians 4:16 says “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” A mature church has Jesus as its head. He then gives spiritual gifts to His people. As we mature spiritually, and put our gifts into practice within the Body of Christ, we help others mature in the use of their gifts. We need each other. I need you to help me be the best I can be for Jesus, and you need me. How can you help others mature in the use of their spiritual gifts today?
These have been words from the heart.
