Words from the Heart for Thursday November 18th, 2021
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.
Galatians 3:26 (NIV)
Children of God
When the Afghan refugees started arriving at the end of August, it was reported that in the rare cases of children arriving in Canada without parents, a group of government agencies would provide housing and an advocate to fight for them as their refugee status is determined. Sharry Aiken, a political science professor at Queen’s University told CTV’s Your Morning, “It’s a rather small number of children who arrive entirely unaccompanied. Maybe two or three a week.”
When we become followers of Jesus, we enter into a relationship with Him that transforms us and makes us brand new. The Bible tells us that if anyone is Christ, they are a new creation – the old is gone and the new has come. We also enter into relationship with every other follower of Christ – they instantly become our brothers and sisters in Christ. Galatians 3:26 says, “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.” What a great privilege it is to be called the children of God. This intimacy with God is one of the unique features of the Christian faith. The gods of other faith systems are aloof and distant. In Jesus Christ, the One true God of the universe stepped in our world as Immanuel – God with us. More than that, He has redeemed us and drawn us to Himself as His children. The Lord’s prayer is unique as the Christian prayer because when Jesus taught us to pray, He told us to begin with Our Father. With this comes all the privileges and joys of being children of the Living God – enjoying His presence, love, concern and care that come with being His sons and daughters.
These have been words from the heart.
