One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
Psalm 27:4 NIV
Beauty
The beauty of Canada is particularly noticeable in Spring, and there is no better symbol of Spring in Canada than the annual Tulip Festival in Canada’s capital city of Ottawa. The Canadian Tulip Festival, held each year in the two weeks leading up to Victoria Day, claims to be one of the largest tulip festivals in the world displaying over one million tulips. The festival gets over 650,000 visitors annually and dates back to Canada’s role in the liberation of the Netherlands in WWII.

The popular Christian song from a few years ago, in pondering how we will respond when we see Jesus, wonders, “Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees, will I fall?” I don’t have an answer to that question. What I do know is that those who have trusted Jesus will be there, and our hearts will be full of gratitude and appreciation. Fear will mark the lives of those who haven’t put their faith in Jesus – that is the most common response in the Bible to any appearance of a heavenly being. But for the follower of Jesus, we read this in Psalm 27:4: “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” It is the longing of every man, woman and child who loves Jesus to be in His presence. Jesus has provided the way – in fact He said He is the way. If you love Jesus, you understand this longing – and one day soon, the longing will be fulfilled.
These have been words from the heart.
