Words from the Heart for Thursday May 2nd, 2019
For if you return to the Lord, your relatives and your children will be treated mercifully by their captors, and they will be able to return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to him, he will not continue to turn his face from you.
2 Chronicles 30:9 (NLT)
Return to the Lord
There are more and more Canadians, having lived outside of Canada for many years, who are returning to live in Canada upon their retirement. Reasons for doing so include the Canadian medical system that can be a great blessing for the aging, and being closer to children and their families. A Canadian immigration consultant suggests that anyone planning on doing this start planning their move a full year or more ahead of the anticipated return date, to give time for organizing, preparing, packing, logistics and the physical move itself.
God’s grace is never ending. It doesn’t matter how many times we have failed, the Lord will always forgive those who genuinely turn to Him. Look at the nation of Israel for a great example. Over and over they turned from the Lord to the gods of the nations surrounding them. They introduced pagan religion — and all the perversion that went with it — into Israel, and built the high places where the foreign idols were worshipped. Time after time God came after them, wooing them back to Himself. He says in 2 Chronicles 30:9: “For if you return to the Lord, your relatives and your children will be treated mercifully by their captors, and they will be able to return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to him, he will not continue to turn his face from you.” Has your heart turned away from the Lord recently? Have you allowed other gods in your life? It isn’t too late. Return to the Lord and you will experience His love and grace flooding your heart and blessing your life again.
These have been words from the heart.
