Words from the Heart for Thursday May 23rd, 2019
When he prays to God, he will be accepted. And God will receive him with joy and restore him to good standing.
Job 33:26 (NLT)
Received with Joy
Back in 2016, Hockey Hall of Famer Lanny McDonald brought joy to many of the most northern towns in Canada. What he actually brought to these communities was the Stanley Cup – but joy came with it wherever it went. The unique experience saw McDonald and former NHLer Mark Napier escort the Stanley Cup to Kugluktuk, Resolute Bay, Arctic Bay, Pond Inlet, Igloolik, Cambridge Bay, and Yellowknife. Lanny said, “It felt like three weeks were jammed into four days of traveling, and 5,300 kilometers. And four times we crossed the Arctic Circle.”
Job had been faithful through the toughest times a human being will ever have to face. He lost his children and his wealth. It seemed like God had turned His back on him. God had not, of course, and Job knew that. In the worst of times, he just kept trusting. And because he did, he had the absolute assurance that God was listening to his prayers. Job 33:26 says, “When he prays to God, he will be accepted. And God will receive him with joy and restore him to good standing.” It isn’t easy to keep focused on the Lord when tough times come. But when we do, we have the assurance that the Lord hears us. More than that, He finds great joy in restoring us and blessing us. Trials don’t last forever. God has His eye on us during them, and has great plans for us when they run their course. If you are going through a challenging time, keep trusting. God is with you and He hears your prayer. He receives you with joy and will bring you through this in victory.
These have been words from the heart.
