…the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites living in the Lebanon mountains from Mount Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath. They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the Lord’s commands, which he had given their ancestors through Moses.

For Testing

Agent Orange is one of the most infamous and dirtiest legacies of the Vietnam War. Ottawa always denied that it cooperated with the United States in testing chemical warfare agents for Vietnam. A 1970 report from national defence to parliament stated that, “no research carried out by the Department of National Defence has affected the use of chemicals in Vietnam.” However, a recently released report states that in June 1966, the American army tested Agent Orange at Base Gagetown in New Brunswick.

We live in a world where temptation is always before us. It comes at us when we least expect it, and so we need to be vigilant about it at all times. We long for the day when we will not have to face it, and we are living with the Lord in the beauty of His holiness all day long. In the meantime, what can we learn from the temptation that is always before us? Look at what the Bible says in Judges 3:3-4, “…the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites living in the Lebanon mountains from Mount Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath. They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the Lord’s commands, which he had given their ancestors through Moses.” When the people of Israel were in the Promised Land, so were a number of the people groups that were inhabiting the land before the Israelites arrived. And God left them there as a test for His people to see whether they would stand firm in their faith and represent Him well. When temptation comes your way, pass the test by standing firm in Christ.

These have been words from the heart.
