I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.
Psalm 119:30 NIV
Chosen
Five Canadians have been chosen as match officials for this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Marie-Soleil Beaudoin and Myriam Marcotte are among the 33 referees selected. Chantal Boudreau is one of the 55 assistant referees and Carol Anne Chenard and Drew Fischer are among the 19 video match officials chosen. Fischer was one of 24 video match officials at the recent men’s World Cup in Qatar. The officials panel for the Women’s World Cup was announced this past January by the FIFA referees committee.

We make choices every day. Thousands of them. It is estimated that the average Canadian makes 35,000 decisions each day. That is mind boggling. Most of them aren’t life changing – but some of them are. King David was determined to make decisions that drew him closer to the Lord who had loved, forgiven and restored him. So he writes in Psalm 119:30: “I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.” David wasn’t the first of the faithful who made such a statement. Joshua publicly proclaimed “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” That was a choice that Joshua made, and so did David. So must we. Every day we need to get out of bed, determined to live according to God’s will for our lives, and according to the principles of the Kingdom of God. There will be much placed before us each day to draw us away from Jesus. We must set our hearts each day on Him, inviting Him to lead us and empower us to be faithful to the choice we make to follow Him today.
These have been words from the heart.
