Words from the Heart for Thursday June 10th, 2021
Those who go to God Most High for safety will be protected by God All-Powerful. I will say to the Lord, “You are my place of safety and protection. You are my God, and I trust you.”
Psalm 91:1-2 (ICB)
Place of Safety and Protection
Canada is considered to be an “advanced safety country” where workplace safety is entrenched. “Advanced safety” countries have an intricate system of regulations and enforcement designed to compel companies to provide safe workplaces and workers who are knowledgeable and know their rights. In Ontario, the paths toward improved workplace health and safety began in 1884 when the Ontario Factories Act was passed, establishing a system of inspections. In 1886, the Ontario Workman’s Compensation for Injuries Act became the first workers’ compensation legislation in Canada.
You have probably noticed this, but the world can be a pretty scary place sometimes. Things come our way that we aren’t expecting and at the worst possible time. Fear rises up within us and there is both a physical and emotional response – flight or fight becomes the automatic choice. Is there not another way? King David knew what it was to face enemies that were after his Kingdom and after his life. How did he respond? He tells us in Psalm 91:1-2: “Those who go to God Most High for safety will be protected by God All-Powerful. I will say to the Lord, “You are my place of safety and protection. You are my God, and I trust you.” David knew that when he faced opposition of any kind, he needed to take it to the God who loved him and promised to come to his aid. When he trusted the Lord, he experienced a peace that would carry him through the worst that the world could throw at him. So can you. Whatever you are facing at the moment, whatever is causing fear, run to the Lord for his protection and for His amazing peace.
These have been words from the heart.
