“And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.”
Exodus 31:3-5 (NIV)
Ability and Intelligence
Canadian students are among some of the world’s smartest. The Programme of International Student Assessment, which tests kids’ reading, science, and math capabilities in 44 countries, ranked Canadians as the fifth most intelligent students internationally. From McGill to McMaster, The University of Toronto to The University of British Columbia, Canadians’ academic prestige competes with that of other nations around the world.

When God wants something done, He chooses to use us. And He always equips those He calls to serve Him; those He calls to accomplish a task. This was certainly true during the construction of the Tabernacle in the wilderness. God had led the people out of Egypt, and He promised His abiding presence as they travelled for a generation through the wilderness. He would be with them, His presence filling the Tabernacle that He called them to construct. The Lord never gives an unfunded mandate – those He calls, He equips. That was proven in Exodus 31:3-5: “And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills – to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.” God called His people to build the Tabernacle in a certain way, and He gave just the right skills to just the right people so that the Tabernacle would be built in just the right way. God has a plan for your life as well, and He has given you the exact skills you need to fulfill the task He has for you. Put that ability and intelligence to use today.
These have been words from the heart.
