Words from the Heart for Thursday January 16th, 2019
Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.
Exodus 4:12 (NIV)
I Will Go With You
Over the summer months of last year, around 250 members of the Canadian Armed Forces arrived in Senegal, en route to Mali. They were noticeable not only by the Maple Leaf patch on their shoulders, but by the blue United Nations caps they were wearing. Mali represents Canada’s first large-scale United Nations peacekeeping mission in nearly two decades. Many of the Canadians stationed at their new base camp, Camp Castor in northern Mali, were genuinely happy to be serving in this way.
The Bible is filled with the promises of God. Those of us who know the Lord and love His word stand on those promises, particularly when we are facing a challenging situation or are dealing with grief. I remember meeting a new believer a few years ago. He was in his 70s and had just become a follower of Jesus. And for the first time in his life he was reading the Bible. He kept asking, “I just read this and it’s wonderful. Is it for me?” A few minutes later he asked the same question. When I kept saying that those promises were indeed for him, he was like a child on Christmas morning. He was overjoyed. God gave Moses a great promise in Exodus 4:12: “Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” The greatest promises that God gives to His people – to us – are the promises of His presence. That has been guaranteed by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” That promise is for all who know Him and love Him. For you. He promises His presence today.
These have been words from the heart.
