Words from the Heart for Thursday February 7th, 2019
When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the Lord spoke to him.
Numbers 7:89 (NIV)
How God Speaks
Canada is one of the most ethnically diverse countries on earth. 20% of Canada’s population reports speaking a language other than English or French at home. For roughly 6.4 million people, the other language is an immigrant language, spoken most often or on a regular basis at home, alone or together with English or French, whereas for more than 213,000 people, the other language is an Aboriginal language. The number of people reporting sign languages as the languages spoken at home is nearly 25,000 people.
I have often heard people say that God seems distant from them. They share that it has been a long time since the Lord has spoken to their hearts. When you are experiencing this, there is a verse in the Old Testament that will be helpful. Numbers 7:89 says: “When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the Lord spoke to him.” In order to hear from the Lord, Moses had to enter the tent of the meeting. In order for Moses to hear from the Lord, he had to enter into the presence of God. We know that the Holy Spirit dwells in each and every believer and so He is with us no matter where we go. So our entering in isn’t a physical thing, but a spiritual thing. We enter into the presence of God through worship, prayer and time in His Word. As you do, don’t do all the talking, or singing. Take to time to listen. In this way the Lord will speak to you.
These have been words from the heart.
