Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Psalm 143:8 (NIV)

Unfailing Love

An article on the CNN website speaks about Canada’s unfailing love for the maple leaf. It says, “No national symbol is as ubiquitous as Canada’s maple leaf. From Newfoundland to Victoria, it’s everywhere you look — a proud, unrelenting reminder of where you are. Not the United States. Not Australia. Not Nigeria. Canada. The most obsessive leaf activity occurs abroad, where generations of flag-bearing Canadian backpackers are famous for sewing maple leaf patches onto their bags just to make sure everyone’s clear at a glance who they are.

I don’t know about you, but I wish I was perfect. So does my wife. And my kids. And if I had a dog, I’m sure he would like me to be perfect. But I’m not. I don’t always act perfect and I certainly don’t always love perfectly. Sometimes I’ve let down the people I love the most. I’m sure if you are honest with yourself, you would agree that you have not always loved as you ought. There is only one person of whom it can be said “his love never fails.” In Psalm 143:8 we read “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” The God who created us and loved us enough to send Jesus to take upon Himself the punishment we deserve for our sin, can always be trusted because His love never fails. Be assured of this – when you let Him down, God loves you. When you fall into sin, God loves you. When you cry out to Him, God loves you. His love never fails.
