Words from the Heart for Thursday February 18th, 2021
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
Psalm 23:5 (NLT)
The Windsor Star newspaper reported about a family that had settled in that Ontario city, having escaped persecution for their Christian faith in an Islamic country. In response to the article, someone wrote: “Like the Ayra family, our parents experienced hardships and miracles to come to Canada. Ayra family, welcome to Canada! May you continue to be blessed here in peace. May your daughter, Ayrin, “grow in grace and wisdom before God and man” here, too.” What a blessing it can be to live in Canada.
I love to eat. Put a buffet in front of me, and I will try a bit of everything. And, if it includes pizza and fruit pie, I will enjoy more than just a bit of everything. I believe King David enjoyed his food as well. In Psalm 23:5 he writes: “You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.” The feast that God sets before us is not a physical one – it is a feast of spiritual blessing. Even when the world is pressing in against us – even in the midst of opposition – God pours His blessings into our lives. When you are in the centre of God’s will for your life, God will honour you. Your blessings will overflow. David had seen that over and over again. When King Saul came against him, God protected and prospered Him. When his own son, Absalom, tried to take his throne, God honoured David. Whatever you are facing, as a child of King Jesus you have the assurance that in the midst of challenging times, you will see the blessings of God overflowing in your life.
These have been words from the heart.
