The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17 NIV
There is so much about Canada that Canadians take delight in. From coast to coast, many Canadians would admit that the most stunning scenery in the country is in the Rocky Mountains. The Trafalgar travel website says, “Head out west during the colder months and you’ll find the winter wonderland that is Banff National Park. Canadians love to go skiing and snowboarding at Lake Louise Ski Resort or dog sledding through Kicking Horse Pass, after which they’ll cozy up at a rustic mountain lodge in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
I love watching parents at a school concert or music festival when their child is performing. They look on with such delight, cheering on their child from the audience, believing them to be the best there is. It is hard for many to believe, but God looks at us with that same sense of delight. Here is how the prophet puts this in Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” God loves you so much that He breaks out in song over you. As you live for Him, serving others with the compassion of Christ, He takes great delight in you. On the Cross, Jesus took upon Himself our sin. When we repent and place our faith in Jesus, our sin is lifted and our guilt is too. Then when God looks at us, He sees Jesus – no wonder Zephaniah says that He no longer rebukes us, but instead rejoices over us with singing. Listen, redeemed one, as God delights in you.
These have been words from the heart.
