And now I will show you the most excellent way.
1 Corinthians 12:31 (NIV)
The Most Excellent Way
Newcomers to Canada are encouraged to volunteer. According to an article on the settlement.org website, “Volunteer work is an excellent way to gain Canadian experience and Canadian references. There are also many other benefits to volunteering in your community.
Volunteering is unpaid work. Often, volunteer positions are with non-profit or charity organizations. Volunteering can help you to: Get Canadian work experience, get practical knowledge of the Canadian workplace, practice your English or French, make new friends and contacts and get Canadian references.”
It has been said that the Christian life is the most fulfilling of any in the world. There is a lot of truth to that. Living according to Biblical principles, putting into practice the principles that Jesus taught, leads to a life free from guilt and with eternal purpose. If the Christian life is the best way, at the heart of the Christian faith there is a most excellent way. Paul tells us what it is in 1 Corinthians 12:31: “And now I will show you the most excellent way.” This is the verse that introduces the love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13. At the heart of the Christian life is love. It is what brought Jesus to earth and it is what must drive all we do as His followers. The entire Christian life is a life of spiritual and moral purity and excellence, and the proof of our relationship with Jesus is that we love others as we have experienced His love. His agape love has transformed us, and as we love others in His name, with that same agape love, others will see the love of Jesus and respond to Him as we have. It is the most excellent way.
These have been words from the heart.
