For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 1:17 NIV

Grace and Truth Came

Here is some interesting bits of truth about Canada: Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world combined. The country’s name is derived from “Kanata”, a Huron-Iroquois word meaning village or settlement. It took 40 years for the Canadian parliament to finally decide on a Canadian flag. The red and white flag with the prominent maple leaf was officially launched on February 15, 1965. Hockey is the national winter sport of Canada, while lacrosse is the national summer sport.

The Bible is filled with godly men and women. Some are heroes of the faith. Moses rises to the top. God chose him not only to free the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt, but through him to build a people that uniquely belonged to Him. He would call them to live a life that mirrored His holiness. They would be called to live according to the laws that he would give to Moses and that Moses would give to them. Over the years they would fail to live by those laws, and more and more they became aware of their need for a Redeemer – one who would, by grace, transform their hearts and write His law on those hearts. The law was not enough – and God knew that. So Jesus came, and John 1:17 says “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ”. The law is God’s standard – and it makes it obvious that none of us can live up to that standard. We need a Redeemer – one who can transform our hearts and empower us to live a life that honours the Lord in every way. That’s why Jesus came – full of grace and truth.
