Canadians excelled at this year’s BMO Vancouver marathon. Canadian men took the top five spots with local runner Robin Watson crossing the finish line first in a time of 2:27:38. The series of races attracted runners from 65 countries. Chinese long-distance runner Zhiling Zheng won the women’s marathon in a time of 2:43:50. The race, which has grown to more than 17,000 runners since its inception in 1972, has been praised as one of world’s most scenic marathons by a range of U.S. media outlets, including Forbes, CNN, and USA Today.

When God does something He does it very well. And that includes when He does it through us, in spite of our imperfections and sin. When we try to accomplish things for God and His kingdom in our strength, they will have no eternal significance or impact. But when we use the gifts that God has given us by His Holy Spirit, God will excel. In the book of Exodus we read about the building of the tabernacle and Moses says this in Exodus 35:35, “The Lord has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers.” God’s tabernacle had to be perfect – it was where the Creator of the universe was going to dwell in order to lead His people. And so He equipped the craftsmen and tradesmen to excel in their work. He will do the same in you and through you by the same Holy Spirit.
