Words from the Heart for Thursday August 29th, 2019
But neither King Zedekiah nor his attendants nor the people who were left in the land listened to what the Lord said through Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 37:2 (NLT)
Beginning in 2017, CanadaSound inspired Canadians across the country to celebrate the little sounds that bind our country together: from bacon on the grill to the call of the loon to a hockey call in Punjab, the project tracks the Canadian spirit through sound. From an electronic re-imagination of a century’s old Maritime folk song opening with the sound of waves upon the Nova Scotia shore, to a stormy summer lament to a long love, CanadaSound takes the mind back to our roots and to our deepest memories of growing up across the country.
There are lots of things in this world that confuses me. One of the greatest is why anyone would not readily accept the gift of eternal life that God offers through Jesus’ death and resurrection. The same person that would never think of turning down a gift from their spouse or child, does not even consider receiving a far greater gift from their Creator. But it has always been so. The words of Jeremiah 37:2 are dreadfully sad: “But neither King Zedekiah nor his attendants nor the people who were left in the land listened to what the Lord said through Jeremiah.” There was no shortage of people in Zedekiah’s life who were telling him what he wanted to hear, but just one true prophet, who was telling the truth and speaking on behalf of the Lord. It is the same in our day. To whom are you listening? The Bible is God’s unique word, and it alone will draw us to the Lord Jesus. It alone tells us about the gift of eternal life that is offered to us through Jesus. Don’t close your ears to the message of God’s word, by which you can receive the gift of eternal life.
These have been words from the heart.
