And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:5 NIV
Poured into Our Hearts
“Bee” careful about the honey you buy these days. Fake honey cut with corn syrup, rice, beet and other sugars is still pouring into Canada and onto grocery store shelves. Producers who pride themselves on turning out the real thing, have been abuzz about this food fraud for years. They say they are feeling the sting and consumers should be aware. Since June 2018, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has been zeroing in on fake honey, using “targeted surveillance”.

There are delightful stories in the Bible about people pouring things. One of the most beautiful is the story of Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus, who broke open an alabaster box and poured out perfume to anoint Jesus. It was a lovely picture of worship, honour, and love. There is another beautiful picture, painted by the apostle Paul in Romans 5:5: “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” What a lovely thought – God has given the most precious things He has – His love – pouring His love into our hearts by the presence of the Holy Spirit, who takes up residence in us when we open our hearts to God’s forgiving, renewing, regenerating and restoring grace. The perfume of God’s abiding and everlasting love has filled our hearts, to purify and cleanse. The result is an overwhelming sense of God’s love, and the eternal experience of His grace. Open your heart to God today through faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and you will experience the beauty of God’s love poured into your heart.
These have been words from the heart.
