Words from the Heart for Thursday August 15th, 2019

“As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.

Isaiah 59:21 (NIV)

Trust God’s Word

In a fun online webpage, Americans visiting Montreal were surveyed about what they thought of Canada. Here is my favourite response: “I think Canada is like that chill guy that is always nice. He doesn’t speak much but he isn’t socially awkward. And he doesn’t talk until he is spoken to. Yet you have so much good to say about him. You just want him around because just his presence lifts everybody’s mood.” Everybody who responded said they trust Canadians.

The Bible has always had its detractors. From the moment in the Garden of Eden when Satan asked Adam “did God really say?” until now, there have been those who have tried to belittle and criticize the Word of God, putting doubt about the veracity of the Bible into the minds of people. God understood that this would be the case, and throughout the Bible, words speak to its inspiration. This is the case in Isaiah 59:21: “”As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.” Almost three millennia after God inspired Isaiah to write the book that bears his name, we continue to read and study what He says, amazed at how it speaks truth into our day. God’s word is as true today as it was when God led the prophet to write what he did. You can trust God’s word for your life – read it and apply it to all that comes your way today.

These have been words from the heart.
