Words from the Heart for Thursday April 18th, 2019

After David had constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it. Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister before him forever.”

1 Chronicles 15:1-2 (NIV)

Chosen for the Task

The Prime Minister chooses the Cabinet Ministers, and the Governor General formally appoints them. Most are MPs, and there is often at least one representative from the Senate. The Prime Minister and Cabinet meet regularly to discuss and decide on various topics such as government spending, ideas for bills, and new policies, programs and services. Most Cabinet Ministers are in charge of a government department and they report on their department’s activities to Parliament.

It is a great honour to be chosen by the Lord for a task. The New Testament teaches that each of us have a gift that we are called to use for the benefit of the Body of Christ, His Church, and He calls us to put those gifts into practice. God has always had a calling on the lives of His people. A great example is found in 1 Chronicles 15:1-2. David had prepared a place in Jerusalem for the ark of God. “After David had constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it. Then David said, ‘No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister before him forever.’” David knew that the Levites had been uniquely called of God to minister before Him, so he assigns them to go and bring the ark to Jerusalem. He was wise to do so. What has the Lord uniquely called you to do to bring honour to Him? Are you being faithful to that calling?
