In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace.

Colossians 1:6 NIV

The Whole World

According to the US News and World Report’s World Rankings, Canada moved up one notch to number two in the world, right behind Switzerland. According to the report, “Canada is a high-tech industrial society with a high standard of living. Trade agreements in the 1980s and 1990s dramatically bolstered trade with the U.S., and now the two countries are each other’s largest trading partner. While the service sector is Canada’s biggest economic driver, the country is a significant exporter of energy, food and minerals.”

Canada has a good reputation throughout the world, and one of the reasons is because we are not seen as a threat to others. A Canadian passport is one of the strongest in the world, and with it you can pretty much visit any country on earth. There is something much more powerful than a Canadian passport – the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul the apostle knew this and wrote, in Colossians 1:6: “In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world – just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace.” The early disciples discovered that the people with whom they shared the Gospel, and to whom they introduced Jesus, readily accepted their message. The Gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus crossed languages and cultural borders with ease. To know that we have a Creator who loves us and has done everything necessary to draw us back to Himself, is universal in its scope and acceptance. We have certainly discovered this at Bible League Canada. The Gospel, brought by local champions, touches the hearts of people all over the world – still bearing fruit.

These have been words from the heart.
