Words from the Heart for Thursday April 11th, 2019
Who have you laughed at? Who have you spoken evil things against? Who have you raised your voice against? Who have you looked at so proudly? You have done it against me. I am the Holy One of Israel!
2 Kings 19:22 (NIRV)
The Holy One of Israel
Huffington Post Canada posted an online article that listed things that set Canada apart from the world. The list included such things as a seven-month ski season in Whistler, British Columbia, and Quebec City, the only walled city in North America. Did you know that more than half the polar bears in the world are found in Canada? And in 2013 Hershey’s debuted a milkier, creamier version of their classic chocolate bar just for Canadians, who apparently prefer simpler ingredients and a less “gritty, cheesy” taste than Americans.
Sin always impacts others. Take David’s sin with Bathsheba, for example. It ended with the death of Bathsheba’s husband, Uriah, and put a mark on David’s descendants. In his great prayer of repentance, David states that he had sinned only against God. He is correct that ultimately all sin is against God. God says this clearly in 2 Kings 19:22: “Who have you laughed at? Who have you spoken evil things against? Who have you raised your voice against? Who have you looked at so proudly? You have done it against me. I am the Holy One of Israel!” Sin in your life will have an impact on you and others who are involved in your life but the heart of sin is rebellion against God. If you have sinned, or are involved in sin, you are rebelling against God. Stop it and turn your heart back to God. He is always willing to forgive you and set things right in your life. It is never too late to invite Him to do so but it means you will need to turn from your sin and turn to the living God. This is true repentance.
These have been words from the heart.
