“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’”
Matthew 25:34 NIV
God Prepares a Place for You
No matter where you called home in Canada on May 11, 2021, whether it was a house, an apartment, a university residence, a remote community or a work camp in the North, a military base, a nursing care facility, a rooming house or a prison, the census counted you. While three-quarters of the households StatsCan counted answered 10 simple questions, one-quarter received a longer questionnaire that took approximately 30 minutes to complete. The overwhelming majority of households responded in 2021 – 98%.

I hear many Christians wondering aloud why Jesus hasn’t returned yet. It has been two millennia since He was here on this planet, making the promise that He would return. His earliest disciples were waiting with expectation for His immediate return, and every generation of believers since then has had that same expectation in their lifetime. So, what is Jesus up to? We catch a glimpse of this in what has come to be known as Jesus’ Olivet Discourse. In Matthew 25:34 we read His words: “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’” Jesus is preparing for our arrival. In His foreknowledge, He knows exactly who will be part of His forever family, part of the eternally redeemed from every nation, tribe and tongue. He is waiting for the last one to come to faith in Him. Maybe it’s a loved one of yours, maybe a member of a people group who are yet to receive a Bible in their heart language. Be patient – Jesus is coming, when the time is just right.
These have been words from the heart.
