Words from the Heart for Sunday September 12th, 2021
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
Made Everything Beautiful
When people think of a beautiful lake in Canada, most think of Maligne Lake or Lake Louise in Canada’s Rockies. However, there is another stunning lake in Canada’s west that is not nearly as well known. Cheakamus Lake is a lovely peaceful little lake in Garibaldi Provincial Park less than three kilometers from Whistler village. Surrounded by old growth cedars and firs, the lake has a wild aura and looks mysterious and secretive. Towering mountains cast their shadows over large boulders and the pleasant beaches around the lake.
I don’t know how Microsoft Windows decides what photos to show on my laptop but most of them are stunningly beautiful. I look forward to seeing what is going to be on my screen first thing in the morning. Human beings are built to appreciate beauty. This is particularly true for those who have been redeemed by faith in Jesus Christ. He takes the repulsiveness of our sin and replaces it with the beauty of His presence. King Solomon noticed this as well, and wrote in Ecclesiastes 3:11: “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” God has birthed in every human heart an awareness and longing for eternity. In spite of the sin that rules our hearts, that sense of eternity remains. He loves each and every one of us and has done all that is necessary to transform us into His image. The God who created the beauty of our world has the power to fill your life with beauty as well, if you will reach out in faith to Jesus Christ.
These have been words from the heart.
