And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

All Things for Our Good

Although there is not one single education system in Canada, basic public education is in fact free for residents of Canada until the 11th or 12th grade, depending on the province. International students, however, do have to pay the full fees. Many colleges and universities are heavily subsidized, allowing students of all backgrounds an equal chance at higher education.

Canada has a publicly funded health insurance system, financed through taxpayer money. Each province has a different plan and specific regulations, but for the most part, it ensures basic medical care for all Canadian citizens.

Life can be confusing. As followers of Christ, we know that our lives are under the control of our Creator, who loves us and has a plan for our lives. The confusing part is when challenging times come – times of grief and pain, times of loss and illness. We wonder how it could be possible for God to allow those difficult things to come our way. In times like that we are reminded of what Paul the apostle wrote to the Christians in Rome, who were suffering severely simply because they loved Jesus. They must have wondered what God was up to as well. In Romans 8:28 Paul wrote: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Paul didn’t write this in a safe bubble. He had experienced every challenge that life could throw at him. And through it all, he recognized that God was using it all for Paul’s good. He does this for us as well. Through the easy times and the challenging, God is working for our good.

These have been words from the heart.
