And this is the secret truth: that by hearing the Good News, those who are not Jews will share with the Jews in the blessings God has for his people. They are part of the same body, and they share in the promise God made through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 3:6 (ERV)
The Same Body
The Toronto Police Services Board recently approved the purchase of 2,350 body-worn cameras to equip the city’s officers as part of a number of initiatives related to police refoms. Mayor John Tory, who sits on the board, said he was moved to vote in favour of the cameras in part because reports on a pilot project found that they would improve community relations. “Improved accountability is key to the rebuilding trust between police and communities,” said Tory after the three reports were unanimously approved by the board.
Through Abraham, God would choose the people of Israel as His own people. For two millennia He would reveal Himself to them. But it was never His desire to simply be the God of the Israelites. When He called Abram, He made a promise to him in Genesis 12:3: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Eventually Jesus would come, the final and complete revelation of God to the world. By His death on the cross, Jesus would provide redemption to people from every tribe, tongue and nation. Paul would write this in Ephesians 3:6: “And this is the secret truth: that by hearing the Good News, those who are not Jews will share with the Jews in the blessings God has for his people. They are part of the same body, and they share in the promise God made through Christ Jesus.” We are witnesses to this promise – every day at Bible League Canada we get reports from around the world about people who are being welcomed into the global family of God as they put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
These have been words from the heart.
