And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Acts 2:21 NIV

Call

In the days before the internet, I lived in North Florida for a number of years. Every day during the winter months we would listen to a radio program on a Panama City radio station called Canada Calling. It was one of the few ways we could get news from home. Prior Smith’s Canada Calling broadcasts of news from Canada on air and online serve the more than 4 Million Canadians throughout Florida, California, south Texas and the Bahamas during the winter months. Canada Calling completed its 69th year this past March 31.

The day the Church was birthed, 3000 people became followers of Jesus. That’s a profound move of God by the power of the Holy Spirit who had been unleashed in the world to become Christ in us, the hope of Glory. The good news is that this moment continues to be replicated in the lives of men, women and children every day around the world. Never in the history of the world has the Church grown as quickly as it is today, globally. Churches are being planted in villages where the name of Jesus has never been heard before in the history of the world. I have had the profound privilege of meeting thousands of these people around the globe. On the Day of Pentecost, Peter quotes the prophet Joel in his Spirit-filled and Spirit-led sermon with these words in Acts 2:21: “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Joel had prophesied that the day would come when people would call on the name of the Lord in faith and would have their sins removed and their guilt lifted. That day is today.

These have been words from the heart.
