And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?

Matthew 6:28-30 (NIV)

Clothed by God

Canadian national clothing was formed under the influence of Natives (who lived on these lands for centuries) and colonizers from Europe (who came to Canada in 17-18th century). Also, traditional garments in Canada correspond with the weather conditions and climate in this part of the world. That’s why traditional Canadian pieces of clothing include such things as parkas, tuques, Ojibwa shirts, mittens, moccasins, earmuffs and the quintessential long johns.  Fashion in Canada today still depends much on the weather and climate conditions.

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to drive through a desert the day after a rare rainstorm, you are in for an amazing experience. In many deserts, plants lie dormant, sometimes for years. When rain comes, almost instantly they pop to life and the desert blooms with a unique beauty. Its miraculous. Jesus’ followers would have understood this, and what He taught them in Matthew 6:28-30: “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?” As much as we see the Lord’s creative beauty in the flowers that fill gardens and fields, we see His love and grace even more in His love for us. God desires to clothe us in His righteousness and glory. He removes our garments of sin and replaces them with pure garments of His holiness. Live today dressed in the clothes He provides His children.
