For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.

Psalm 149:4 NIV

Listen to Words from the Heart

If you enjoy travel, you will enjoy the website. A married couple named Anna and Trevor spend their lives traveling the world. As they say “It all started out as a hobby, we’d travel as much as we could fit into our lives and vacation time, as well as our budget. However, by the end of 2016 we’d sold our house (in Halifax) to move into a smaller, more easily manageable and central apartment and we’d quit our full-time jobs! Nowadays travelling and exploring the globe together is the central part of our lives.”

There is so much in which we take delight. It might be our spouse, our children or grandchildren. Maybe it’s a beautiful scene, or a friendship that brings much joy. In spite of all we see taking place in our world that disturbs us, there is also much that is delightful. You may be surprised to know that if you are a follower Jesus, if you have experienced His life-transforming grace and power, you are delightful to Him. King David wrote this in Psalm 149:4: “For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.” It may sound too good to be true, but the Lord takes delight in you. We know ourselves so well, and sometimes we think there isn’t much to like. The Psalmist says that anyone who has that attitude will be crowned with victory. He knows you better than you know yourself and delights in you nonetheless. What a blessing to know that you are loved that much. It ought to drive us to live a life that honours our Creator, to live up to that delight.

These have been words from the heart.
