Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

Colossians 3:23 NIV

The Heart

Heart disease is on the rise and is the leading cause of death for women worldwide. Heart attack symptoms are not recognized in more than 50 per cent of women. What’s more, early data indicates that people who have a heart condition, vascular disease or who have had a stroke are at higher risk of severe illness or complications if they are infected with COVID-19. Each year in Canada, February is Heart Health Month and February 13 is Wear Red Canada Day, designed to raise awareness of women’s heart health and heart disease prevention.

God has a plan for our lives, and as we put our confidence in Him, and yield to His will, He works out that plan perfectly. The heart of the plan is to put God first in all things. Paul the apostle puts that priority this way in Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Wherever God has placed you, whatever you find to do with your life that gives you a sense of fulfillment, remember that you are serving the Lord above all. When we are at the centre of God’s will for our lives, we will find it easy to put our all into it. We understand that in a human sense, while we report to a boss and fit within a structure at work, our ultimate boss is God. Followers of Jesus ought to be the best employees ever, because we are not working for whoever is giving us a pay cheque, but for the One who has given us eternal life. We are a good witness for Jesus when we serve Him at work.

These have been words from the heart.
