“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.”

Luke 11:33 NIV

Hidden

According to the canadiansky.co.uk website, there are a number of hidden gems to visit in Canada. At the top of the list is Dawson City, Yukon. The website says “Located high in north-western Yukon Territory and with a population of just over 1,300 people, not many people know about Dawson City. In the 19th century, it was the centre of the Klondike Gold Rush, with a population of 40,000 and boasted bustling hotels, bars and dance halls so earned the nickname “the Paris of the North.”

There appear to be some who claim to be followers of Jesus who like to live as secret agents. Nobody really knows that they are followers of Jesus. Nothing in their lives makes it look like He has made a difference in their lives. They never speak of their faith. You would never know. Which makes me think – if it waddles like a duck, and quacks like a duck … it’s a duck. Jesus never lets his followers get away with being secret agents. In Luke 11:33 he says, “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.” A follower of Jesus is called to be very public about their relationship with Jesus. We are to do so in a way that is attractive to others. We are to do so led by the Spirit, who is quietly working in people’s hearts to prepare them to hear the Gospel. He will lead us to people He’s prepared. Don’t be secret about your faith. Tell others about the difference Jesus has made.

These have been words from the heart.
