Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Sing For Joy

Wade Hemsworth’s The Log Driver’s Waltz was recently voted Canada’s most popular folk song. The song illustrates the practice of log driving where men on logs ran and “birled” from one log to another in an effort to guide their timber to a saw mill downstream. In 1979, the National Film Board of Canada produced Canadian Vignettes: a series of five minute videos to be included between children’s programs. The Log Driver’s Waltz still remains the most popular vignette.

I had a note from a friend who wondered what kind of a Christian he was. When involved in a car accident, he forgot to call out to the Lord. In the midst of that challenging time, he didn’t think at the time to pray. The fact that he wondered this tells me his relationship with the Lord is just fine. David learned a lesson about calling out to the Lord. In Psalm 90:14 he teaches us this: “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” David began each morning with the Lord. He prays that God would meet him each morning with a reminder of His unfailing love. It is a good reminder to all of us that we take time before we get on with our day to spend with the Lord. David says that if we do this, then throughout the day we will remember the Lord and enjoy His presence. Did you start the day with the Lord today? If so, how has that helped you praise Him during the day? And if not, then tomorrow morning will soon be here, giving you another opportunity.

These have been words from the heart.
