Words from the Heart for Sunday June 20th, 2021
By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.
Hebrews 11:21 (NIV)
Blessing Our Children
Back in April, Health Canada announced that it was reviewing a submission from Pfizer-BioNTech to expand the use of its COVID-19 vaccine in children aged 12 and older. Health Canada said that the department was reviewing the submission but at the time did not provide any details on when it may be approved. In April, Pfizer said its Phase 3 clinical trials showed its COVID-19 vaccine was safe and 100 per cent effective in 12 to 15-year-olds.
Happy Father’s Day. God has a special place in His heart for dads. After all, He is our Heavenly Father. The Bible is filled with dads, beginning with Adam himself. And he had to deal with one of his sons murdering another of his sons. Some dads were better than others. Godly fathers blessed their children and were a blessing to their children. Hebrews 11:21 says “By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.” Our children are a blessing from the Lord. So are our grandchildren. When we bless our grandchildren, we bless our children as well. There is power in the blessing given by a parent or grandparent. We give our children and grandchildren a sense of their worth within the family and in the sight of the Lord. We assure them of our love and that God has a purpose for them, and as they walk in obedience to Him, He will direct their paths. If you are a father or grandfather, take some time on this Father’s Day to bless your children and grandchildren. Then watch as the Lord works in their lives for His glory and for their blessing.
