Words from the Heart for Sunday June 10th, 2018

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV)

Not My Thoughts or Ways

We are so limited in our ability to think and reason. Even though we are made in the image of God, we realize how much higher are His thoughts and ways. He made the highest heavens. Let us not even imagine that we know better than He does. We can trust Him for His better ways.

I love reading what people who have recently moved to Canada think of our country. Back in 2015, Laura, who had recently moved to Montreal from South Texas wrote: “When I was growing up in Texas, real maple syrup was a delicacy reserved for special occasions only, but here it’s cheap and widely available in big cans. In the spring, during maple harvesting season, people celebrate by visiting sugar shacks, which host big dinners that usually involve multiple courses and a lot of maple. Yummm!

We human beings think we are so smart, and wise, and knowledgeable. We work hard to come up with new ideas and write books that we hope will help others and prove how smart we really are. At the same time, the world is still at war, and our jails are full, and we make decisions that do more harm than good. God must sit in heaven and shake His head at what He sees happening among the affairs of mankind. He says this to us through the prophet in Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” There is no truer statement anywhere. God doesn’t need to seek the advice of others, or gather a focus group together to determine the viability of His plan. All He does is perfect and complete. We would be wise to seek His will in all things, and His wisdom, and get onboard with His plan for our lives.

These have been words from the heart.
