Words from the Heart for Sunday July 1st, 2018
Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.
Psalm 46:10 (NLT)
Honoured By Every Nation
On this Canada Day, we can put the name of our nation in this verse. God desires to fulfill the destiny of Canada. There is a very unique plan that He has for this nation. We are a community of nations gathered from across the earth. He will be fulfilling His desires in and through Canada as we, His people, say “yes” to Him.
On December 1, 2017, the Supreme Court of Canada released its decision concerning the interpretation of modern treaties and, in particular, the Crown’s obligations in land use planning processes. Although this case does not change the existing law, it serves as a much-needed reminder of the importance of acting in good faith and in accordance with the Honour of the Crown when dealing with First Nations treaty rights. It was a decision based on a Yukon case – Yukon being home to half of Canada’s modern treaties.
The first part of Psalm 46:10 is one of the most quoted Bible texts – “be still and know that I am God”. That is good advice and we need to take more time to enter quietly into God’s presence. When we do, we will discover that not only is God real, but that He speaks into our world and into our lives. But that is only part of that verse and part of the story. Psalm 46:10 says this: “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” When we are still before God we notice something – He is not only Lord of our heart, but Lord of every heart that bows before Him. We are part of something pretty amazing. There are others who are still before God – from every nation, language and people group from around the world. The response will be WOW! What a blessing it is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. We get to stand in the presence of God, and we honour Him with others from around the world.
These have been words from the heart.
