His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Flourish

In spite of the economic challenges throughout the planet recently, in some areas, Canada is flourishing. Since 2015, 2.7 million fewer Canadians are living in poverty, a 56 per cent decrease; income inequality has declined by 11 per cent; the gender wage gap is getting smaller, having decreased by 12 per cent; women are closing the labour force participation gap, which has decreased by 28 per cent; and, more young people have good jobs, with the youth unemployment rate down by 22 per cent.

People work hard to provide for those they love. Parents live their lives to ensure that their children have a roof over their heads, a safe place to sleep at night, and healthy food on the table. In these economically challenging days, this is difficult for far too many families. It is natural for us to provide for those we love. It is natural, because it is part of the nature of our Creator. One of God’s Biblical names is Jehovah Jireh. 2 Peter 1:3 says: “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” God provides for all our needs, physically and spiritually. In this case, there is no excuse for us to experience spiritual poverty. Our Creator promises that by His divine power he has given us everything we need to thrive spiritually. As we get to know Jesus better, through times in His word and prayer, through the experiences He takes us through, we learn more and more about His faithfulness, and we learn to trust Him more. Whatever you need to thrive spiritually today, ask Jesus.

These have been words from the heart.
