Who is like you among the gods, O Lord—glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders?
Exodus 15:11 (NLT)
Glorious in Holiness
One of the most glorious places in Canada is one you may never have heard of. That is likely because it is far from easy to access. Western Brook Pond is a 10-mile-long Pond in Gros Morne National Park. Not only is it a natural masterpiece, but getting there will be an adventure of your lifetime. It begins with an eight hour drive from St. John’s. After a two mile hike, boats will take you to the pristine lake waters to see superb views of Long Range Mountains, cascading waterfalls, and a towering cliff.
It wasn’t as though Egypt didn’t have any gods. They had many. So did all of the other nations around them. Human beings are by nature worshiping creatures, and within each one of us there is a longing for eternal significance. We keep searching until we are introduced to the One true God who meets our need for a Saviour. As soon as the people of Israel had escaped from Egypt, they began to worship the God who had delivered them, and in that deliverance they recognize that the God who has chosen them as His own is the one true God. In Exodus 15:11, Moses and the Israelites sing this song: “Who is like you among the gods, O Lord—glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders?” It was in God’s amazing ability to deliver His people that they recognized His power and authority. Not even Pharaoh was as powerful as their God. Nothing on earth could thwart their God. He is like no other gods in His holiness and purity, in His splendor and wonder-working power. Have you met this God through faith in Jesus? If not, today you can.
These have been words from the heart.
