Words from the Heart for Sunday February 28th, 2021
Everything you say and everything you do should all be done for Jesus your Lord. And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 (ICB)
Doing Everything for Jesus
The website budgetyourtrip.com gives some interesting information about the cost of a vacation in Canada, which is the average daily price based on the expenses of other visitors. It says “you should plan to spend around $184 per day on your vacation in Canada. Past travelers have spent, on average, $39 on meals for one day and $24 on local transportation. Also, the average hotel price in Canada for a couple is $199. So, a trip to Canada for two people for one week costs on average $2,577.”
When Jesus called His first disciples, He called them to a life of total commitment to Him. He taught them some hard things – they were called to give up everything to follow Him. He knew that if the message of the Kingdom was going to impact every people group on the planet, His followers would have to give their all to follow Him. Paul understood this. When Jesus stopped him on the road to Damascus, and transformed his life, He then called him to take the message of the Gospel to Gentile nations of the known world. So, it isn’t surprising that Paul would write this in Colossians 3:17: “Everything you say and everything you do should all be done for Jesus your Lord. And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus.” We who confess Jesus as Lord are still called to total commitment to Him and His call on our lives. Someone wisely said you can’t say “No, Lord.” If He is your Lord, then the only response possible when He calls you is “Yes, Lord!” Does He know this will be your response when He calls you?
These have been words from the heart.
