Words from the Heart for Sunday December 16th, 2018

Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Luke 1:45 (NKJV)

Blessed is She Who Believed

Mary not only received a message and a promise from the Lord, she believed the promise and confidently expected the Lord to fulfill everything the angel had aid. Sometimes people receive a promise but then set it aside because of doubt and circumstances. Mary received the promise with faith for the fulfillment. Have you received promises from the Lord? Ask Him today to refresh your faith so that you, too, will be blessed in the fulfillment.

The decline of religion in Canada is not nearly as steep as we might believe. A 2015 national faith survey of more than 3,000 Canadians from the Angus Reid Institute, reports that Canada’s secularization may be exaggerated. A solid segment—30 per cent of Canadians – continues to embrace organized religion. Of the religiously inclined, more than half attend a service at least once a month, while almost nine out of ten pray privately on a regular basis.

The Christian life is one marked by faith. We are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, a place where we have never set foot, at least not physically. So our entire life is one of faith – faith in a person, the Lord Jesus, that we have not met face to face, faith in God’s word that we have recorded in the Bible, and faith in the hope we have in Jesus for abundant and eternal life. It has always been this way. Over and over, the Bible records those who have been justified by faith, who have walked by faith, who are living their lives by faith day by day. Hebrews 11 lists just a few. So it shouldn’t surprise us what Luke 1:45 says about Mary, the mother of Jesus: “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Mary is blessed – literally filled with joy – because she believed what had been told to her, and promised to her, by the angel. Because she believed, God’s perfect plan for her life, and for the redemption of the world, was fulfilled. How will God fulfill His plan for you, as you believe?
