You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

Thousands of sun-seeking Canadians were able to dodge Canada’s quarantine regulations last February. While Ottawa was finalizing its quarantine plans for Canadians returning from abroad, thousands of lucky tourists who were vacationing in the Caribbean and Mexico dodged the bullet. Sun-seekers returning to Montreal through Feb. 14 were able to quarantine at home because the federal government’s plan for mandatory hotel quarantine was not yet ready to be rolled out.

We have all heard testimonies from those who come to faith in Jesus after a journey through a variety of spiritualities and religions. It wasn’t until that person met Jesus that they experienced the peace and joy for which they had been searching for a long time. This shouldn’t be a surprise. The Lord told the ancient prophet Jeremiah this in Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” When God created every human being, He built into us an awareness of eternity. We are the only beings in God’s creation who ponder the things beyond ourselves. We have a sense that this life is not all there is. And that is completely true. In the words of French mathematician Blaise Pascal “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made know through Jesus Christ.” This is the God whom we are called to seek with our entire heart. As we do, the Holy Spirit steps in to lead us to the One who proclaimed that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Seek Him with your whole heart and you will find Jesus.

These have been words from the heart.
