Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27 NIV
If you are looking for a peaceful and safe place to live in Canada, Quebec City should be at the top of your list. One of the country’s most aesthetically beautiful cities is also one of its safest. The city has a relatively low CSI score compared to other cities in Canada. This can be attributed to the efficient and effective law enforcement and the justice system in the city. Quebec City has a diverse population, with a mix of ages, ethnicities, and cultures.
There is much about this time of year I love. One of the ironies of this Advent season is that it is designed to give us time to prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. This season is supposed to be about peace, joy, hope and love. Instead, it is too often rushed, exhausting and frustrating. Our lives are far too busy, and our to-do lists seem to get longer, not shorter. In the midst of all the busyness, we read this in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” I’m not sure what kind of peace the world gives. It makes promises of peace, but it is elusive and fleeting. Jesus would lay down His life, bearing the punishment we deserve for our sin, in order that we can be forgiven and experience peace with God. It is that peace that Jesus promises. It is that peace that is ours, in the midst of the busiest of seasons. Don’t let your heart be troubled. Get your focus back on Jesus.
These have been words from the heart.
