Words from the Heart for Sunday August 25th, 2019
And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
Jeremiah 24:27 (KJV)
We Are God’s People
According to the 2016 Census, Canada’s largest self-reported ethnic origin is Canadian, accounting for 32% of the population, followed by English, Scottish, French, Irish, German, Chinese, Italian, First Nations, Indian and Ukrainian. There are 600 recognized First Nations governments, or bands, with a total population of 1.5 million. In 2016 the largest visible minority groups were South Asian, Chinese and Black. Between 2011 and 2016, the visible minority population rose by 18.7%.
Human beings are the only part of God’s creation that long to know Him. Nothing else that God created has a longing to understand if there is life beyond the grave, and if so, what that looks like. Only men and women desire to understand eternity and how we can relate to the intelligent Designer that is behind this amazing world in which we have been placed. The problem is that sin is in the way of our ability to have a relationship with our Creator, and so many seek in other places, hoping to find the peace and hope that they are missing. Listen to a great promise from our Creator. He speaks in Jeremiah 24:27: “And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.” God Himself births in us the desire to know Him. He is the one who calls us His people. That is an amazing truth – that we are loved by our Creator His desire is a relationship with us. That was brought to fulfillment in the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Have you become His child?
These have been words from the heart.
