Words from the Heart for Sunday August 16th, 2020
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.
1 Chronicles 29:11 (NLT)
Everything Is Yours
There are some things that Canada has that nobody else in the world does. Butter tarts, for example, and Nanaimo bars. You can get Kraft Macaroni and Cheese outside of Canada, but only in Canada is it called Kraft Dinner, or KD as it is usually referred to. Laura Secord chocolates are only found in Canada. After all, she was a Canadian hero in the War of 1812. And speaking of chocolate, we Canadians like our milk chocolate creamier than other countries around the world.
I have a friend who carves tree stumps. She takes an old stump and in no time at all the stump becomes a bear, beaver, bunny or some other of God’s creature. She is an artist by nature. So is the Lord, who created everything in His infinite mind and then spoke it all into being. 1 Chronicles 29:11 says, “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.” Because God created all things, everything is His. My friend, as artistic as she is, needs the tree stumps to create what she does. Only God could create the tree itself. We human beings have a propensity to hang onto all we have. We think what we have is ours. The Bible tells us that, in fact, everything belongs to the God who created all things. How much easier would life be if we realized this and lived in a constant state of gratitude for all that the Lord has lovingly given us?
These have been words from the heart.
