And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
1 John 4:16 (NIV)
God is Love
According to the Trafalgar.com website, “One reason Canadians love Canada is because of their spectacular backyard. Spanning more than half of the Northern Hemisphere, Canada is made up of thousands of lakes, 48 national parks, wide open plains, lush forests and impressive mountain ranges like the Rocky Mountains. Not only is the landscape varied but so is the wildlife. Native Canadian animals include polar bears, Canada lynxes, moose, wolverines, Beluga whales and beavers.”

When we were young, we depended on our parents for everything. We needed them to care for us, to provide the food we need, the protection, the love. The love of a parent for a child is critical to a child’s development. Knowing that they are loved helps them deal with all the challenges of growing up. As followers of Jesus, we ultimately depend on one thing as well – that God loves us. Having this assurance helps us deal with the challenges that come our way on a daily basis. That dependence is well founded. The apostle says this in 1 John 4:16: “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” Here is the wonderful point. We can depend on God’s love because He is by nature, love. Because He is, His love isn’t dependent on our actions. His love doesn’t waver. He loves you as much today as He did yesterday. He loves you even if you’ve just blown it big time. You can run to Him and He will always receive you without limit. As John says, you can rely on the love God has for you.
These have been words from the heart.
