Words from the Heart for Sunday April 28th, 2019

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals but sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel.

2 Chronicles 17:3-4 (NIV)

Seeking God

Individuals can make an asylum claim in Canada at a port of entry, at a Canada Border Services Agency inland office or an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada inland office. Officials will then determine if an individual is eligible to make an asylum claim. If the claim is determined to be eligible, it will be referred to the Refugee Protection Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada for a hearing. In making its decisions, the IRB considers whether the claimant seeking asylum meets the United Nations definition of a Convention refugee, which has been adopted into Canadian law, or is a person in need of protection.

I like Jehoshaphat, and not just because I like his name. He was a man of God who enjoyed the favour of the Lord. There were so many kings of Israel and Judah who led their people away from the Lord. But not Jehoshaphat. Look at what 2 Chronicles 17:3-4 says: “The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals but sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel.” This is a great goal for all of us. We who love the Lord Jesus ought to have the goal of seeking the Lord and following His commands. There are lots of people who are willing to pull us away from the Lord. Jehoshaphat was not perfect. He failed to tear down the high places, the foreign worship centres that were in Judah, but his heart was always turned towards the Lord. God knows you will not be perfect this side of Glory, but He will bless you as you keep your heart turned towards Him.

These have been words from the heart.
