“Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.”
Joshua 23:14 NIV
God’s Promises Never Fail
Following the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, experts say the prospect of a bank failure in Canada remains low and highlight the process by which depositors could get their money back. Trevor Tombe, a professor of economics at the University of Calgary, said in a phone interview that Canada has several agencies which ensure the nation’s banking sector remains stable. He said the main regulating body is the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, which monitors and audits Canada’s main banks.

Everything in this world eventually fails. Ancient buildings lie in ruins, modern cities spend a fortune in updating infrastructure, modern appliances have a lifespan of about seven years. Everything in this world eventually decays and fails. The effects of sin have impacted all of creation. It has not, however, impacted the Creator. Nothing about God ever fails, not His power, not His wisdom, not His word, and not His promises. The Bible is filled with stories about the faithfulness of God, and prophets, priests, patriarchs and preachers in God’s Word all speak to this. In Joshua 23:14 we read this: “Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” Joshua had come to the end of his life. He had trusted the Lord for decades and speaks from a lifetime of experiencing God’s faithfulness. You can trust what God has promised and as you near the end of your life and look back, you will also testify about the promise-keeping God.
These have been words from the heart.
